ABOUT EKHO#4...
This year, EKHO will again enlighten us in the contemporary violin and bow making world. In an extensive exhibition of violins, violas, cellos and bows from around Europe, all will be free to be tried out.
EKHO4 includes:
A big Gala concert with Sonia Wieder-Atherton and her friends and a serie of concerts featuring wonderful belgian and international quartets and ensembles.
Masterclasses open to the public. with the Zemlinsky Quartet, the Amôn Quartet, and Sonia Wieder-Atherton.
A special feature of this fourth edition will be the matronage by two internationally recognised women, leaders in their respective fields, the cellist Sonia Wieder-Atherton and violin maker Andrea Frandsen. With their active and inspiring presence they will offer us a portrayal of the evolution of the role of women in music and instrument making over the centuries.
A series of four conferences on this subject, put together in collaboration with the ULB, is being staged at Flagey during the semi-finals of the Queen Elisabeth Competition.
